Mike Garrett is our Vice-President of Human Resources, joining American HealthCare, LLC in March 2016. Mike has over 30 years of experience working with people, taking a unique path joining our mission of being a resource for the various American HealthCare managed facilities. Mike has experience with various stages of the HR function from working at Virginia Transformer Corporation in Roanoke, Virginia to working at Rowe Furniture in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Elliston, Virginia.

Mike’s skills include employee relations, on-site concierge services, project management and human resources management. He has served as a panel expert at business gatherings for organizations from the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services to the Greater Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce. Mike’s goal has been and continues to be helping people be the best they can be, so they can use their energy to support the mission, whether it be upholstering sofas, assembling transformers or providing excellent care to residents at a Heritage-Hall facility or South Roanoke Nursing Home. Away from the traditional workplace, Mike has obtained an understanding of folks from all walks of life through delivering singing telegrams, performing in musical groups and dressing up as Santa Claus for Christmas.

Mike is a member of ASHHRA (American Society for Healthcare Human Resources) and SHRM (Society of Human Resources Management) where he has achieved the SCP distinction. (Senior Certified Professional) Mike’s parents raised him to have an appreciation for diversity from the people he’s met to the places he’s lived, with stops in Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Missouri and Virginia.  He has been married to his wife, Melissa, since 1985. They have three adult children named Jaime, Shannon and Holly and two grandchildren named Mariah and Dylan.
